The Effects of Marijuana on a Cancer Patient

Marijuana Cancer

For the last 4 decades we have seen an explosion of cancer-related deaths.  Is it something in the water?  The foods that we choose to eat?  Our own genetic makeup possibly is to blame?  Well, doctors think it might be a combination of many factors.  Cancer is a horrible thing to deal with.  Believe me, I know – I watched as both of my parents were diagnosed with it, at different times.   It makes one nauseous, weak, and hungry for ever-changing food.  A cancer patient’s taste and preferences change with the counteracting chemotherapy and/or radiation.

Medical marijuana can alleviate the harshest of nausea.  It can make a person want to eat something to get strength back and help with headache, backache, tight/sore muscles, and many other ailments.  This wonderful plant can do more good than all of those pharmaceuticals combined.  There are no lingering negative side effects from marijuana.  The long-lasting negative externalities of using pharmaceuticals is ever-lasting and, sometimes, one might not know until years later how those drugs interfered with natural processes in the body.

I have seen cancer patients go from a measly 85 pounds to a healthy 120 pounds.  This was done by switching from various doctor-recommended pills to medical marijuana, restoring sleep, appetite, and a balance back in these patient’s lives.  It’s time doctors are compassionate and honest with their patient’s considering incorporating marijuana into their daily routine.  Ingested twice a day versus every 4 hours of Percocet regimen, this natural plant will aid in the discomforts and mask the truer pain, all while costing less, and injuring one’s body less.

I believe that so many people in the medical systems across the country would be scared to be labeled as a “drug user” if they decided to self-medicate with marijuana.  The stigma needs to be lifted!  Doctors across the country have already been prescribing medical marijuana for different cases and illnesses.  It’s time our government bureaucracy changes this plant from a Schedule 1 drug to a medical option for treatment of some illnesses nationwide.
