Can Hemp Help Cure Bed Bug Problems?
As I was looking up about cannabis and its use as a medicine in the Ayurvedic medicinal tradition I happened upon a curious common use of hemp that may be very important.
The last few years have seen a surge in gigantic Bedbug infestation has spread to most if not all of the country; especially within hotels and plaguing major cities. According to an article from 2010 by Lynn Bruno on MSNBC.com back then in 2010 exterminators were getting 57% more calls for the last 5 years till then. I remember distinctly the curious news stories devoted to bedbugs and chuckling at all the “don’t let the bed bugs bite.”
Bedbugs are small tiny little insects that like to bite warm blooded creatures and feed on their blood they are literally bloodsuckers. So I was amazed to find this out about this curious little common use of hemp that I had never heard before. In a post about Cannabis and its use in Ayurvedic medicine from indianmirror.com listed at the bottom of the common uses is a little blurb that “Two or three green twigs collected in spring and placed in beds will drive bedbugs from the room.”
Now I thought this was astounding because I have seemed the exact same thing happen to ants with cucumber peels. That after a prolonged period of rain ants would make their way to the bathroom somehow and that after placing cucumber skins in all the corners of the room that after a few days they would vanish.
Now just imagine if a few twigs just a couple twigs of hemp in your bed no less could drive Bedbugs from the room. There are always critics of folklore fixes to common problems but lets not forget these things probably come to us because they worked so well people had a mind to make sure people in the future would know about these common cures as evidenced by rhymes, sayings, and poems about common folklore cures.
So I would be curious for anyone to comment who may be having Bedbug problems and to find a remedy discovered. For instance I’m not sure if any twigs will do it. I imagine that it must be stem that is fresh and that it may give off an odor that the bugs can’t stand. In any case I think it interesting to find out if it works and to get the word out. I find it very amusing that hemp could be the cure to mass Bedbug infestation.
