Michael Phelps OG Kush Strain Review

by Find Medical Marijuana Dispensaries at on 12/21/2012 - 06:09 pm

So If you are a  MMJ patient I'm sure you've had OG Kush before. Or at least  heard of OG Kush. And if you live anywhere in the United States, I'm sure you've at least heard of Michael Phelps. And probably heard about him winning 19 Gold Medals, 2 Silver, and 2 Bronze, for a total of 23 medals overall. Making him the "most decorated" Olympian of all time.
In early 2009 he was caught smoking a "Medicinal Drug" (marijuana) out of a glass water pipe (bong) at a college party right after the Olympics in 2008. He had won 8 Gold Medals in Beijing in 2008.
Now those are all great facts about him, but did you know there is a MMJ strain named after him? It ...

The Marijuana Renaissance of New York...

The Marijuana Renaissance of New York City
Damn I’m getting old!  It was just over 2 decades ago when New York City’s Greenwich Village was painted with shades of homeless kids, violence, blasting boom-boxes, crushed-beer cans, fashion, gays, crazies, 40-bottles, drag-queens, druggies, and hipsters.   There was always a subtle and parting aroma of marijuana glazed over the scene that culminated on the West Side Highway all sorts of time after dark.
To a passing stranger on
Christopher Street or down at the pier it might look like the guy or girl next to him is holding their best strain and perhaps their last, but never too much of a s ...

Marijuana & Schizophrenia, do they mix?

by Find Medical Marijuana Dispensaries at on 12/11/2012 - 02:09 pm

Supposedly, researchers found a study in which getting stoned can trigger schizophrenic symptoms in people who are at risk for mental illness. Due to a recent study in the UK, if cannabis use was eliminated in the UK,  the rate of schizophrenia would decrease by 8 percent to 14 percent. Deepak Cyril D'Souza says that once the "good effect" of the THC wears off for users with schizophrenia, their hallucinations worsen.
Even though this may be true, have any of these researchers thought about how few negative side effects Marijuana has for schizophrenic users compared to other prescription medications? I don't think so! When looking at the side effects for Paxil(Anti-depressant ...

Could Marijuana Slow Brain Aging?

by Find Medical Marijuana Dispensaries at on 11/14/2012 - 12:42 am

A new study has found that cannabinoids, the group of chemical compounds found in marijuana, are shown to slow the effects of brain aging. The study, conducted by the Institute of Molecular Psychiatry at the University of Bonn in Germany, shows that the use of marijuana, specifically the stimulation of cannabinoid receptors in the human brain, trigger the release of antioxidants. Antioxidants are shown to   terminate cells that are damaged, as well as treat conditions such as strokes and  neurodegenerative disease; a category which includes Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's disease.
So what does this mean for the average medicinal marijuana user? Andras Bioke ...

Ask Not What Medical Marijuana Can Do...

by Find Medical Marijuana Dispensaries at on 10/24/2012 - 07:55 pm

As we close out on 2012, it’s astonishing to look back at how far medical marijuana has come.  We’re really living in a progressive age for this industry and it’s truly amazing to be a part of.
Yet, despite this evolution, medical marijuana patients are still fighting criticism and denigration on a daily basis.  Regardless of state laws, or what doctors may advocate, medical marijuana is still surrounded by an aura of stereotypes, negativity, and fear.  As patients, we are in a prime position to voice support for this proven medicine and to be seen as legitimate sources of information.
Because we are in such a position, we should seize ...

A Cannabis Look At Jamaica

by Find Medical Marijuana Dispensaries at on 10/08/2012 - 06:42 pm

Jamaica and Ganja
Remember a time, sometimes referred to as “back in the day,” when the big boys, the legendary name weeds of the past, were in town? – the Colombians, Panamas, Oxacans, and, of course, Jamaicans.  What happened to the Jamaican strains?
To approach that, it may help clarify the story, if we go back:
Columbus had landed in Jamaica on his second trip in 1494 and “claimed” it for Spain.  The Spanish set up sugar plantations, and after wiping out the native Arawak inhabitants, brought in African slaves.  In 1655 the British defeated the Spanish and took Jamaica  leaving slavery in place until 1838. ...

My Personal Story Of Cannabis and Epi...

by Find Medical Marijuana Dispensaries at on 09/21/2012 - 04:36 pm

Most people have heard the term seizure, or epilepsy, at least once in their life time. But the majority of those people are uneducated on what epilepsy is, and what it means to have a seizure. I myself am an epileptic. My job to society is to be an educator and awareness raiser of how this disorder affects millions of lives, and how the use of medical cannabis can make a grand difference in an epileptic’s life, proven scientifically and through personal anecdotes.
For those who are skeptical of medical cannabis being an effective therapy for epilepsy, let me introduce myself and share my story. I am a twenty year old naturopathic medicine student currently working at applying ...

Pancreatitis and the Effects of Medical Maijuana
by: Mitch Williams
Behind the stomach is a large vital gland known as the pancreas. It is designed to release glucagon, hormones and insulin as well as producing digestive enzymes that help the body absorb and digest food. Being that the pancreas is a storage base for digestive enzymes, injuries, such as pancreatitis, can become potentially menacing.
Pancreatitis is the inflation of the pancreas due to alcohol abuse, gallstones, physical trauma, medical procedures or medications, infections, high fat levels in the blood or hereditary diseases. The pain correlated with pancreatitis can range from mild to severe and ma ...

A Mature Perspective on Medical Marij...

by Find Medical Marijuana Dispensaries at on 08/19/2012 - 05:35 pm

By Harleygrower61:
My Medical Marijuana experience dates back to the mid 70’s…Yes I’m almost ready for AARP. I’m not complaining, though, because I’m ready for the discounts!  I wonder if the dispensaries will be offering senior discounts soon? Anyway, now that you know which generation I’m from you’ll appreciate how this mature folk views dispensaries along with the new and budding industry, pun intended.
Like many others from my generation, I tried marijuana just to try it. What I noticed immediately was how my legs didn’t hurt after I smoked. I played a lot of sports, so sore muscles were nothing out of the norm. It wasn&rsqu ...
