The EHLE 500ml Bent Neck - Glass Waterpipe Review
Published: 10/09/2011 by Brother GreenLove
The Ehle 500mL Bent Neck is a beautiful, versatile and above all else affordable waterpipe. It is a perfect daily driver and performs very well with a multitude of different attachments and ashcatchers. For a simple clear borosilicate pipe with many choices of colored labels, it really is quite pleasing to the eye. The bent neck also allows smokers the comfort of not having to make sure an ashcatcher or attachment doesn’t knock it right off of its base. At $120 dollars after tax, the Ehle 500mL was an easy purchase to make. I was fortunate enough to purchase my Ehle 500mL during a time period where it was much easier to locate models with ice pinches. As such, I have had the privilege to take advantage of the truly enormous ice chamber during my review sessions. At eight and one half inches from mouthpiece to pinches, the Ehle 500’s ice chamber is by far the largest in my collection. This feature can be, however, a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it allows for a large amount of ice that in turn very quickly cools the smoke traveling through the chamber. On the other hand, this does lead to a large potential for water build up in the bottom of the tube if you happen to, say, lose track of time for one reason or another. Luckily, Ehle’s diffused downstems are so efficient that they can handle a wide range of water levels, so even if you build up a little extra water at the bottom, there is an ample amount of wiggle room before you need to head to the sink. As far as simple, affordable waterpipes go, the Ehle 500 series performs like a much more expensive piece. With incredibly efficient diffusion, a large ice chamber and a perfectly honed 18mm glass on glass joint, Ehle has truly created a tube that will continue to redefine what it means to provide quality at a very competitive price. -Brother GreenLove

At $120 a pop this piece is quite inexpensive, making it a worthwhile purchase on that fact alone. In common headshop retail, a piece of this stature would run between $200-350. The way these water pipes are made is intuitive to it's life span. The glass-on-glass joints are either acid-blasted or etched and create a sand paper type grip which really helps with keeping the bowl out of harms' way.

The EHLE 500ml Bent Neck sounds astonishing in the pocket as well as in the feeling of fresh cool air. It sounds great due to the fact that it holds ample amount of ice. The nice part is the wiggle room for the water from the ice to land in. I love the idea that It is only $120 with tax. Does that not sound great for a water-pipe that has everything needed and is beautiful?
