Colorado Rec Sour Puss
My experience with recreational sourpuss in Colorado, was pretty similar. It's a great strain, but you should be prepared for a creeper!
Smell: The primary smell I experienced upon opening the container was of orange zest, and grapefruit. At first I was concerned by the lack of skunk smell, and wondered if perhaps the strain would fail to deliver the high I was after. I opted to break it up by hand rather than using a grinder. The second I broke apart a nug the citrusy smell was overwhelmed by the skunk.
Length/Strength: I found my high beginning to dissipate around the 3 and a half hour mark. Personally, I would rate this strain closer to strong than to medium. Although I experienced no problems, one of our circle members (a regular smoker, who rarely feels paranoid) said he was feeling a small amount of paranoia.
Experience: Sourpuss is definitely a creeper! I personally felt that this was a "two for one" high. The indicia effects hit me first. I found my anxiety and general stress completely gone after the first half hour. While enjoying the euphoria, I found myself frequently getting lost in my own thoughts. As an almost daily smoker, I find it difficult to locate a strain that will really distract me, and I really enjoyed it! After awhile (Approximately 30/40 minutes in) I realized that my wisdom teeth weren't bothering me anymore! It was spectacular, as I'd been tolerating a dull ache for days. It was at this point I realized the sativa/body high must have kicked in. I was euphoric, and in an excellent mood. I even got some housework done without hating every second of it. I agree it does have the potential for couch-melt, but I did not have that experience. I attribute that to the fact I smoke regularly, and was aware of this buds tendency to creep. Therefore, I was not tempted to over-do it when I wasn't getting the desired effects immediately.
Apperance: A very pretty bud! The nugs were cone shaped, with delicate peach and tan hairs. Although I did see some crystallization, it was definitely not the show stopper the way the hairs were. It was quite a bit denser than I thought it would be, but I had no trouble breaking it up by hand. It was perfectly moist without being sticky. I attribute that more to the dispensary than the strain it's self, though.
All and all I give it a 4/5. It's a beautiful strain, but I can't give full stars due to the paranoia aspect. I would not recommend this to first time smokers. The 20 minute wait is fine for regulars, but for first timers I can imagine it would be frightening to wait for the high, not knowing what to expect. I also wouldn't recommend this for a wake and bake high. I think if I woke up and smoked this I'd end up on the couch all day.
