Double Boiling

I have tried both the frying pan and the crock pot, and while both are effective, I've found that double boiling when cooking ganga keeps the temperature nice and even, and if you keep the water to a simmer, you don't have to worry about cooking out any THC. Also, don't throw away your pot grounds!! They can be added to so much!!

What About Vegans?

While Ganja butter certainly works and works well.... my question is, What about Vegans? As a vegan myself I asked this question some time ago. I found several solutions that work every bit as good as butter and they are all cholesterol free. 1. Olive oil. The slow cooker method works fantastically as does a pressure cooker. I prefer a slowcooker and use only kief. Kief gives the oil a golden hue and a wonderful flavor, it also keeps much longer than anything "green", especially at room temp. 2. Coconut oil. Same as above. Coconut oil is even better in some ways. Coconut is a Super Food full of essential amino acids and yummy cholesterol free fat. Actually, Any kind of oil will work . Hemp seed oil - yummy! 3. Glycerin. You can make a quite effective extract using Glycerin. The extract can then be squirted into/onto anything. Mix it in your coffee. Make hard candy. Put it in soup. Heck, you can even vape it in e cigarettes! There are so many ways to consume Cannabis in a healthful manner, it never ceases to amaze me. Happy extracting everybody!

Great post Miranda, CannaButter is the quintessential ganja food. Although it's not hard to make an effective and potent batch there are some details that should not be overlooked.
Some of the best tasting and most potent butter that I have tried was made using a slow-cooker not a frying pan. The ganja and the butter were added and set to Low and then let cook for twenty-four hours. With a frying pan or any stove-top pot for that matter it needs to be watched and tended to in order to prevent burning both of the butter and of your house.
Also, the THC will start breaking down at certain high temperatures, which is no good and something to be aware of. The numbers I have found show that 180-200 degrees F is the boiling point for THC and other cannabinoids… which means they start turning to vapor and disappearing at that temp. and although a few sources say that any temperature up until that boiling point is fine for making butter I would recommend a lower temp. I would say maybe 120-150 degrees. As the temperature increases the time it takes is lessened but so is the quality. I find this process similar to making mead (honey-wine), any temperature you bring the honey to over around 120 degrees starts to break the flavors down. Now, maybe you're using some shake or some buds that are not really that good quality anymore and that's why you are turning them to food, but for those who want a piece a butter you can melt straight onto a pastry or something the better the taste the better the experience. So, my recommendation is use good buds, good butter and take your time.

this sounds pretty easy! The only other recipe I have tried uses a whole ounce of trim per pound. Loved it on english muffins with coffee in the morning!
