Peaceful protest legal?

What happened to the ability of Americans to protest and rally so long as it is non-violent? Even looking at the Occupy movement across the nation pays credence to the overbearing nature of the American police force. I am sick of citizens being attacked for doing what the Bill of Rights is supposed to protect!

Stop resisting!

What happened to protect and serve? Seems like the police these days are more like thugs with too much power rather than officers of peace!

Ahh... that sucks.

Seriously... this is no good. Similar incidents took place at Nimbin's Mardi Grass Festival in Australia in recent years... the police turning up with sniffer dogs? It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

F*%K the POLICE

Aimee Reeves from St. John's, Oregon - 10/12/2011 - 07:30 pm

I know that I shouldn't be surprised when police get aggressive towards peaceful protesters, and yet I always am! Why is it OK for them to take this kind of unnecessary violent action against the very people they claim to serve and protect??

I watched most of the video and was disgusted at how the police continued to forcefully hold that woman down while others stood by and asked them to stop. Does it really take 4 trained cops to hold down one woman? Was she psychotic or on PCP and just couldn't be controlled? No, as usual, the police abused their authority and punished this woman for nothing.

And in our very own nation's capital, it's a damn shame that we can't demonstrate our rights without fear of cops who act like they were trained by the gestapo.

Boo DC police..... boo.
